In this guide, you’ll learn how to connect GetResponse to the Abandoned Checkout Leads feature in Kourses.

This integration helps you follow up with users who leave your checkout without completing their purchase — boosting your conversions!

What You'll Need

  • Access to your Kourses account

  • A GetResponse account

  • Your GetResponse API key

Step 1: Select the Membership

  1. Navigate to your Membership inside Kourses.
(Example: "Lead Funnel in a Weekend")

  2. Go to the Integrations tab from the submenu.

  3. Click on Email Marketing and Others.

  4. Scroll down to find Abandoned Checkout Leads.

Step 2: Connect GetResponse

  2. Choose GetResponse from the list of integrations.

  3. Enter your GetResponse API Key.
(If you’re unsure where to find it, check the knowledge base article.)

  4. Click Save and Connect.

This connects your Kourses account to GetResponse at a basic level.

Step 3: Set Up Lists and Tags

  1. Choose a GetResponse List where the abandoned leads will be sent.
    (Example: "Abandoned Checkout")

  2. (Optional) Choose a Tag for further segmentation.

    • You can leave this blank if you prefer.

Step 4: Create Custom Fields in GetResponse

You’ll need two custom fields inside GetResponse to send over important checkout data.

Field 1: Checkout Membership

  • Go to Contacts → Custom Fields → Create Custom Field.

  • Name it: checkoutmembership (lowercase, no spaces or special characters).

  • Type: Text → Line of Text.

  • Save.

Field 2: Checkout URL

  • Repeat the steps.

  • Name it: checkouturl (lowercase, no spaces).

  • Type: Text → Line of Text.

  • Save.

Step 5: Link the Fields in Kourses

  1. Back inside Kourses, click Save to refresh your integration settings.

  2. Scroll down and you'll now see the two custom fields available.

  3. Map the fields:

    • Membership Name Fieldcheckoutmembership

    • Checkout URL Fieldcheckouturl

  4. Click Save.

What Happens Next

  • Whenever a user abandons checkout, their details will be sent to your GetResponse list after about 1 hour.

  • Their Membership Name and Checkout URL will populate the custom fields you created.

  • You can then personalize your follow-up emails, mentioning the membership and providing a direct link back to the checkout page — making it super easy for them to complete their purchase!

Abandoned Cart Leads Integration

If you would like to pass your abandoned checkout / cart leads through to GetResponse, follow this guide to integrating GetResponse. We'll show you how to create the custom fields required for this integration to work most effectively.

The Abandoned Checkout Leads feature lets you capture prospects who leave without completing their purchase — and send them into GetResponse for follow-up emails.

Here’s exactly how to set up the integration step-by-step.

Why This Is Important

By following up with abandoned leads, you can:

  • Remind them to complete their purchase.

  • Dynamically insert personalized info (like the product name and checkout link).

  • Ultimately boost your checkout conversions.

Step 1: Choose the Membership to Integrate

  • Go to the membership you want to work with.

  • Example: Lead Funnel in a Weekend.

  • Open the Integrations tab from the submenu.

  • Click on Email Marketing and Others.

  • Scroll down to Abandon Checkout Leads.

Step 2: Add GetResponse as a Service

  • Click Add Service.

  • Select GetResponse from the list.

  • You’ll need your GetResponse API key.

Tip:
If you don’t know where your API key is, check the article in the Kourses Knowledge Base.

  • Paste your API key.

  • Click Save and Connect.

This completes the first step of the connection.

Step 3: Set Up List and Tags in GetResponse

  • Choose a list in GetResponse where new contacts will go.

  • Example: Band and Checkout (but you can name it anything).

  • Recommendation: Create a separate list specifically for abandoned checkout leads.

  • (Optional) Choose a Tag in GetResponse if you want.

Step 4: Set Up Custom Fields

You’ll need two custom fields:

  • Membership Name (e.g., Lead Funnel in a Weekend)

  • Checkout URL (the checkout page they abandoned)

These fields allow you to personalize your follow-up emails.

How to Create Custom Fields in GetResponse:

  1. Go to Contacts > Custom Fields.

  2. Click Create Custom Field.

  3. First Field:

    • Name: checkoutmembership (all lowercase, no special characters)

    • Type: Text → Line of Text

  4. Second Field:

    • Name: checkouturl

    • Type: Text → Line of Text

Important:
Field names must be lowercase and no special characters.

Step 5: Connect Custom Fields Inside Kourses

  • Return to your membership integration settings in Kourses.

  • Click Save to refresh the connection.

  • Now, in the dropdowns:

    • Assign checkoutmembership to the Membership Name Field.

    • Assign checkouturl to the Checkout URL Field.

  • Click Save again.

Your integration is now complete!

What Happens Next?

  • When a prospect abandons checkout, their info will be sent to GetResponse after about an hour.

  • The following details will be included:

    • Their membership name (what they were buying).

    • The checkout URL (where they abandoned).

You can now use these fields inside your email templates to:

  • Personalize your messages.

  • Include a direct link back to the checkout page.

  • Make it super easy for them to complete their purchase.
